Leo’s floppy ears have always been one of my preferred things about him, particularly when he was a puppy. When we brought him home, Leo’s ears were much as well huge for his head as well as it took him a while to grow into them. It was adorable. When he would lie down, his ears would reach the ground before his head, as well as if he tilted his head to the side, his ear would cover his eye.

He doesn’t run into those issues anymore, now that his head is proportional to his ears.  However, we have run into other issues with his ears that may be because of the “floppiness” nature of them. since his ears flop over as well as essentially close over themselves, it’s type of like a cave in there. If there’s any type of kind of wetness in his ears, it is a lot of absolutely going to fester as well as cause an infection.

We inspect Leo’s ears nearly everyday trying to find any type of indications of redness or that “doggy ear infection” smell. Whenever we take him to the beach or let him jump in water, we always have to make sure to dry as well as clean his ears afterward. If we don’t that’s absolutely a one-way ticket to an ear infection. We likewise have to be careful about keeping water away from his ears when providing him a bath.

Unfortunately, we can’t always stop ear infections, so
Leo gets them from time to time. If it’s a quite poor infection, we take him to
the vet who will normally prescribe him medicated ear drops or tablets, however if
it’s a moderate infection, we take care of it ourselves. If we’re lucky sufficient to
catch an ear infection before it gets as well bad, we utilize Zymox
Plus advanced for 7 days as well as Leo’s all cleared up. He’s not a big fan of
getting the drops in his ear, however I believe he tolerates it since it helps
relieve the itchy feeling.
